Commemorating for real

I agree with Nathan J. Lindenbaum’s letter (June 6) that Yom Ha’atzmaut, Yom HaShoah, and Yom Yerushalayim demand a substantial, wholehearted, and standardized commemoration, which sorely lacking in the diaspora today. The lackluster show for these exceedingly important days is inexcusable and sad. However, I was further saddened by the absence of Yom HaZikaron in his letter. How dare we forget about the ultimate sacrifices of the bravest Israeli soldiers fighting for the existence of us all? And yet this is precisely what we American Jews do, year after year. We should be ashamed.
