PrintRecipes for creative kosher dishes can be submitted until Jan. 31 for this year’s Man-O-Manischewitz Cook-Off. The cooking contest has a $25,000 grand prize package including a GE Profile kitchen appliances and cash.
This year, the contest requires contestants to use the new Manischewitz all-natural Broth, made with real chicken and beef. The competition encourages home chefs to “experiment with different ethnic foods and to think of preparing a kosher or a Jewish inspired meal as part of that experience, in the same way people enjoy preparing Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and other popular ethnic cuisine.”
Five finalists will win an all-expense paid trip to Manhattan to compete live on March 18 at the Jewish Community Center of Manhattan. A panel consisting of food media and other culinary experts will judge the contestants. Chef Jacques Pepin, the celebrity guest of honor, will act as emcee, head judge, and prize awarder.
Entries can be completed online at www.manischewitz.com or by mail at Manischewitz Cook-Off, c/o BHGPR, 546 Valley Road Upper Montclair, NJ 07043.
Manischewitz also announced its “Fans for Cans” program. For every 500 Facebook fans, the company will give away 500 cans of the new broth to a food bank nominated by consumers. Log on to www.facebook.com/pages/Man-O-Manischewitz for information.
